Detailed information

Product detailed description

Thanks to the individually adjustable side clamps, the ConnectedRide cradle is suitable for many different phone sizes.

The smartphone can be charged either wirelessly according to the Qi standard with a maximum power of 7.5 W or wired via a USB-C connection with a maximum power of 7.5 W. The LED charging indicator (can be switched off) informs you about the charging status of the phone.

If your BMW does not have navigation preparation, you can purchase the cradle here: Cradle for BMW Navigator or ConnectedRide Cradle
To ensure security, the ConnectedRide Cradle can be locked to the motorcycle holder.

The ConnectedRide Cradle can also be used on older BMW Motorrad models (eg BMW R 1200 GS K50) and is suitable for all BMW Motorrad models equipped with optional equipment "Preparation for navigation system" - as for models equipped with Multi-Controller and the option of retrofitting preparation for navigation via the BMW Motorrad workshop system (except for R 1200 RT, R 1250 RT, K 1600). For older motorcycles without a TFT instrument panel, operation is possible via the "Preparation for navigation unit SA 272" control element. The "On-board computer Pro (optional equipment 221)" is a prerequisite for displaying vehicle data.

The ConnectedRide cradle cannot be used with the holder Cradle for BMW Navigator V and VI.

In order to be able to fully use the functions described, the BMW Motorrad Connected App version 4.0 or higher must be installed. BMW Motorrad recommends always installing the latest updates to ensure proper function.

A Bluetooth connection is required to operate the app via the control element of the motorcycle navigation device. The smartphone must be equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy version 4.2 or higher to meet the security requirements (LE Secure Connections) for the connection. Bluetooth pairing takes place within the BMW Motorrad Connected App and is only required once during initial setup.

The following smartphones can fit in the ConnectedRide cradle:

BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) is one of the best-known and most respected brands in the world, not only in the automotive but also in the motorcycle industry. The motorcycle division, known as BMW Motorrad, has a rich history full of innovation and success.

  • Beginnings: After World War I, when Germany was banned from producing aircraft engines, BMW focused on other engineering fields. Chief designer Max Friz designed the brand's first production motorcycle in 1923 - the BMW R 32.

  • BMW R 32: This model is fundamental to the entire future philosophy of BMW motorcycles. It had an air-cooled, two-cylinder boxer engine that was mounted transversely in the frame, and a cardan (shaft) rear wheel drive. These elements became the brand's hallmark and are still used in its boxer models today.

  • Technical innovations: BMW has focused on technical advancement from the beginning. Their motorcycles were known for their reliability and innovations. These include, for example, hydraulic suspension and other elements that were progressive for their time.

  • Racing successes: BMW motorcycles also achieved success in motorsport. In 1939, Georg "Schorsch" Meier won the prestigious Senior TT on the Isle of Man on a supercharged BMW, becoming the first non-British rider to win the race.

  • Post-war revival: After World War II, BMW was allowed by the Allies to produce only small single-cylinder motorcycles, such as the R 24. It was not until 1951 that it returned to producing twin-cylinder boxers.

  • Modern era and global growth: In the 1970s, BMW introduced the R 90 S, which was considered one of the first superbikes. The pivotal model that defined the touring enduro segment was the BMW R 80 G/S from 1980. This bike brilliantly combined on-road and off-road capabilities and pioneered a category that BMW now dominates with its GS models.
