X-Head cylinder head guards for 1250 models. The cylinder heads are designed to cover 85% of the frontal area of the head and protect not only the lower/front initial impact area but also the middle of the cylinder head. Even in a fall on the spot, inertia can cause the motorcycle to roll partially onto the front of the head before settling.

For off-road riding, the X-Heads are complemented by BMW crash bars that protect the heads from rocks and angles of impact that can reach behind the bumpers. 

The construction of the X-Heads benefits from the SuperTough nylon polymer that has proven successful in the X-Head models. Combining high impact strength, temperature and UV stabilization, the injection-molded shell is designed to be slightly malleable upon impact and prevent breakage. On the inside of the shell is a thick thermoplastic rubber insert that rests against the face of the cylinder, helping to dissipate impact force while preventing hard contact.

The X-heads are designed to protect both valve covers and spark plug covers. When a motorcycle falls at speed, any material at the point of contact will wear down, but nylon will not break.
