Vario kufry BMW R1300GS

The new BMW Vario panniers for the R1300GS have a completely different design approach compared to the previous two generations. I didn't like them much in photos, but they suit the motorcycle much better in real life. They give off a rather subtle impression and blend into the overall look of the bike. The Touring package includes the mounting brackets for these panniers, so if you have it, the installation is very simple. The panniers are attached similarly to the previous generation, but now the securing mechanism is more robust, as are the hooks on which the cases hold. BMW promises much greater durability for these panniers than the older model had, but only time will tell what the reality is. The whole design is genuinely massive; when closed, they truly appear as a solid shell. The outer side is covered with aluminum sheet metal, where damage will be visible first.
The panniers can be locked onto the mounts with the motorcycle's key, but you need to purchase an adjustable lock cylinder for each case. The panniers are newly equipped with connectors for power supply, which connect automatically when the case is mounted. The electricity is used for internal lighting, remote key locking of the cases, and you'll also find a 3A USB-A port in the left pannier. Remote locking only works when the ignition is switched off. Then it's enough to press the button on the key fob, and both cases lock. The holders for the connector covers near the handle, which must be removed before mounting the cases, are practical.
The panniers can smoothly change volume from 24L to 30L on the right side, and 25L to 32L on the left side. With the smaller volume, the panniers have a width of approximately 90cm; if you increase the volume to the maximum, the width is about 99 cm.
In the photo gallery below, you can see the panniers from various angles. Overall, they are genuinely subtle, and even when set to the maximum volume, they do not appear drastically wide. They do not vibrate while riding, they hold firmly, and the sound of the exhaust pipe is at a similar level as when riding without them. There are strap slots on the side of the panniers, which Wunderlich has already utilized and designed Bags for the R1300GS Side Vario Panniers for them.
