The BMW R1200GS and R1250GS are among the best all-round motorcycles. However, there is still room for further improvement.
One point that customers often mention is the clearly noticeable low-frequency noise of the GS, which occurs especially under partial and full load at speeds between 80 and 130 km/h. Unfortunately, this is the speed range in which roads are most often driven.
During test rides, Wunderlich technicians were able to identify the source of the noise as a resonance chamber, which is formed by the inside of the panniers and the entire rear wheel arch. It is the acoustic pressure escaping directly from the exhaust that causes the resonance of this chamber. This resonance chamber acts as a mechanical amplifier. It is the cause of the booming sound that is perceived as annoying and unpleasant.
The GONZZOO exhaust deflector diverts the acoustic pressure from this resonance chamber. The dynamic pressure that affects the performance does not change, so there is no loss of power. Riders consider the GS to be subjectively quieter because the sound pressure is shielded on the sides. The deflector also shields the heat radiation of the exhaust gas stream, so that the heating of the cases and their contents is noticeably reduced.
Installation is easy thanks to spring-loaded holders, so the compact deflector can be installed and removed at any time. The appropriate tool is included in the delivery. With German type approval.
