 Kaoko was founded in 2001 after Roy Mentis built a large tank for his existing motorcycle and then took an adventure trip to Namibia. The Kaokoveld, one of the last true wildernesses on earth, inspired the company's name. The Kaoko tank was a great success, allowing Roy to make the trip in the first place, but during his adventure he encountered a more serious problem: extremely tired wrists. This led him to design the first Kaoko "cruise control".

 In 2015, the term "Kaoko™ Throttle Stabilizer" was introduced, which is best used for "naturally twitchy" fly-by-wire throttle systems in addition to conventional cable-connected throttle systems.

 Because motorcycling is so much about throttle control, we believe that all motorcycles should have the ability to easily adjust the resistance of the throttle grip. Even motorcycles with electronic cruise control can be improved with the Kaoko™ throttle stabilizer, as the stabilizer allows the rider to adjust the resistance of the throttle rotation - simply, safely and intuitively.
